A profusion of tiny scraps of fabric spill from an embroidery hoop frame: all textiles used to make this work were sourced from my old clothes. Clothing is a vital form of self-expression, but at a time where overproduction and overconsumption of clothing is creating a new and concerning pollution problem, what stories do our clothes actually tell about us? Under constant pressure from adverts and social media to buy into new trends, do we still have any say in our personal style, or are we just imitating influencers to fill the pockets of billionaire CEOs? And what responsibility do I have to my clothes? To the people who made them, to the fibres and fabrics that fill my wardrobe until it bursts at the seams? How do I overcome the 21st century delusion that I still have nothing to wear?
An occasional series using rubbish collected in a specific place to create a depiction of that landscape
