The UK is facing a water pollution crisis. Mismanagement by water companies means that untreated sewage is being discharged into our rivers and seas on an almost daily basis, and I’m sick of this sh*t. My local river, the Wandle in South London, is an ecological success story thanks to decades of hard work by grassroots groups, but the greatest threat it now faces is from Thames Water, who discharged untreated sewage into the river 321 times last year.
I know the Wandle isn’t the only river in crisis, and I know I’m not the only person who wants to do their bit to campaign for a better future for our rivers. Unfortunately I don’t have scientific expertise or the ability to analyse data or links to the people in power, but I do have a sewing machine, so here’s my gift to all my fellow campaigners:
The Protest Poo!
Made from second hand cotton jersey and wadding from recycled plastic bottles, the Protest Poo is lightweight and foldable, perfect for all your pop-up protest needs! I’m happy to lend the poo to anyone who is taking part in a water pollution protest. Tell me where and when, and I’ll get the poo to you, all you need to do is send it back to me. Get in touch below.
